WGN 9 Medical Watch: Dr. Cole and Patient Climb Mountain
John Golden was told that his knee pain would ground him forever. An old college football injury had wreaked havoc on his knees. Following numerous surgeries, by his late 30s the cartilage in the knee was destroyed. When joint replacement appeared to be the only treatment option available to him, John turned to MOR surgeon Dr. Brian Cole. In a WGN 9 News Medical Watch segment, Dina Bair interviews Dr. Cole and John Golden to learn how a cartilage restoration procedure was used to restore John's damaged knee. Doctor and patient also discuss how research is working to help other patients forgo joint replacement procedures.
